Clippers Finish Strong at Huronia SC Regional Champs!
Clippers Finish Strong at Huronia SC Regionals
This past weekend, February 7-9, the Clippers made their mark at the Huronia SC Regionals in Bracebridge. With 52 athletes qualifying—the highest number in team history—our swimmers showed up ready to race despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions.
Their efforts translated into some stellar performances, bringing home 10 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals, along with three new club records. The weekend wasn’t just about the podium, though; countless personal bests, hard-fought races, and impressive swims highlighted the depth and determination of the team as the Clippers shaved off almost 500 seconds in their best events. Notably, six athletes achieved personal best times in every event they competed in - well done Karah Bechtel, Harie Nirmalan, Emerson Silver, Benton Tone, Thea Underwood, and Abigail Wyant.
Strong Showing from Our 12 & Under Athletes
Our 12 & Under swimmers delivered an outstanding team performance, securing third place overall in total points. Niall Crespy (11) placed first and second in all nine of his events, further highlighting the individual talent within the group. Their collective efforts in individual and relay events showcased the depth of talent and determination within our younger ranks.
A Milestone Moment for Reid Colekessian
Reid Colekessian (12) reached a major milestone, securing her first-ever qualifying time for the Ontario Swimming Championships, set for this coming July. Her determination paid off in an unforgettable 100m Backstroke, where she touched the wall in 1:16.20—an effort that truly showcased her growth and potential. Reid joins Niall Crespy and Liam Paterson as an OSC qualifier.
Record-Breaking Performances
Liam Paterson (15) continued his streak, setting new club records in his fifth consecutive meet. He bettered three more records with standout swims in the 100 Free (53.56), 50 Free (24.88), and 50 Fly (27.14). His relentless drive and consistency in the pool is paying off.

Volunteers: The Backbone of Our Success
Swim meets don’t run without the time, effort, and dedication of volunteers, and the Clippers continue to step up to support competitions both at home and across the region. SC Regionals was no exception, with our parents playing a key role in making the meet a success.
A huge thank you to our CCSC officials who worked on deck over the weekend: Tammy Brown, Courtney Colekessian, Brianna Ferreira, Angela Hilts, Julie Kaden, Dee Nirmalan, Lauren Parr, Ian Paterson, Naomi Paterson, Kris Pitka, Erich Rohmann, Brian Scott, and Cameron Wynn.
Several of our officials also advanced their Swimming Canada Officiating certifications over the weekend. Erich Rohmann, Brianna Ferreira and Dee Nirmalan received successful Deck Evaluations as Judge of Strokes, Inspector of Turns and Timekeeper, respectively, and Naomi Paterson completed her final successful Referee Assessment, marking a significant step toward Level IV Certification. Congratulations to all!
What's Next?
The Clippers are back in action this Sunday as our developing athletes take on the Owen Sound Devo Challenge, gaining valuable race experience and building their competitive edge.
Later this month, Mila Bandrowski, Reid Colekessian, Niall Crespy, Liam Paterson, and Hayden Scott will step up to the big stage at the Ontario Age Group Championships, the pinnacle of winter provincial competition. With fierce racing ahead, we can't wait to see what they accomplish!
